I wanted to share The Declaration for the Right to Libraries, the cornerstone document of ALA President Barbara Stripling’s presidential initiative, Libraries Change Lives, which is designed to build the public will and sustained support for America’s right to libraries of all types – academic, special school and public.
Although directed to the American public the ideas and values presented in the video are true across the World. We all have the right to libraries and I am happy that our, ISE Library, is one of many that, using Barbara Stripling's words, empowers individuals to develop literacy and inquiry skills enabling them to become life-long learners, gives access to technology, resources and tools that allow its patrons to be creators not only consumers of information, and last but not least is operated by a qualified library professional."
